After going for a walk in the orchard, we went inside to warm our hands by the wood stove, smell the apple turnovers, and eat a cookie the size of our heads. Yes, before lunch.
The pies in that place always get me going. I almost slapped down twelve bucks for an apple crumb pie, but stopped myself when I remembered I have a bag of organic apples and a pie crust at home.
As soon as I started peeling, Addison reminded me that I promised we would make lemon curd today....and so we did both.
The pie was easy. I just used my favorite apple pie recipe, and instead of a top crust you just combine 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. flour ( I use whole wheat) a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and 1/2 c. butter cut into pieces and combine until it gets crumbly.
The lemon curd was another story. The zest and juice of eight lemons, 11 eggs, boil until it does this, stir until it does that. I love it though, it is delicious. I just don't think I will be making it again anytime soon.
Sorry I didn't cook dinner tonight honey, but your bagel looked good, and my cold lasagna that I shared with the kids was delicious!

Mmm, lemon curd. My grandparents always had it in the house, although it was the store-bought variety. Gramma didn't like cooking :)
Thanks for the hair-highlighting advice, Katie. Unfortunately I can't afford to go to a salon, so I'll be stepping out on a limb! I've been doing some reading, and I've got hubby here to help. It appears that it's better to do fewer strands, so I stand forewarned! I'll be doing it sometime in the next few days. If it turns out well, I'll post a photo and if it doesn't, LOL......I won't :)
