Knitting amongst the sewing

I have been doing some knitting over here too. I love having something I can do when the kids are awake and playing with eachother, which they do more and more of everyday. Knit a row, change a diaper, knit a row, read goodnight moon, knit a row, wipe a nose, knit a row, put that train back together for the eighth time. You get the picture.
Sewing is only done at night for the most part. After they are all tucked in, sound asleep, but knitting, yes, I can pull it out anytime, as long as it doesn't get too tricky.

I started the duffle coat, and I am very pleased so far. Just garter stitch all the way through.
I might even get it done this weekend. We are headed off to visit Frank's mother and with seven hours in the car ( round trip ) I should get this done.
Although car knitting is so much fun. Knit a row, drift off to sleep, knit a row, sip on my hot chocolate, knit a row.....

it sounds like we live parallel lives! I loved reading your description of how you knit. :)

I am exactly the same with my crocheting! I am hesitant to pull out the sewing machine because it can only be done when kiddos are sound asleep and must be cleaned up before they get up. I knit and crochet because I can pick up and put down many times throughout the day. I have also trained my kiddos not to touch my work.

Good luck getting the coat done! I love what I can see in the photo!

Can't wait to see the finished coat. What yarn are you using? I've had the itch to pick my knitting up again (I put it away when the baby was born) but the urge is strong to make something new. :)

I am catching up on things, so I am going to comment everything here. 1) Valentine's cookies, I have planned all sorts of cookie fun, I am glad that you started early! 2) I love the top. I got that pattern too, I am not sure if it will be flattering on me though...we'll see. Those bloomers! Oh my gosh! They are so cute and lastly, but certainly not least, I applaud anyone who can knit while their kids are awake. LS will physically take the knitting out of my hand and say "no, mommy, no. No knitting." Color me a wee bit envious!
