Vintage linens

I love vintage linens. I have several pillow cases, and I always buy white. I love white. I paint almost everything white. And white bedding......it is just the best.

So, when I heard about this contest from Beki, I really wanted to enter. My collection of linens has gotten rather large, and I thought it would be a great way to use more of them, instead of storing them in the hall closet. Of course the prize is very appealing as well. A fifty dollar gift certificate to some of my favorite places to buy fabric.

This was the first thing that came to mind. I took one of my pillow cases and made a bolster cover. I did add some other notions which you are allowed to do......

but when I was almost done Frank pointed out that you are supposed to make something creative using one standard size pillow case. And all I really did was keep the same idea, I just made it fit a different kind of pillow. I had to admit he was right.

Okay, back to the drawing board for a more creative idea. I do love my new pillow though!

katie, I love the bolster pillow. When my daughter was younger I made sundresses out of vintage pillow cases. Leaving the pretty stitching at the bottom, then a silk ribbon to tie the top together, long enough for a bow on one shoulder.

I am totally with you on the "white" especially for the bed. Very cute! Great idea.

i think it is perfect! (absolutely beautiful)
however, if frank is correct, then i would go with the sundress idea from melissa. or a skirt!
how cute would that be? :)

It is simply gorgeous!! Unfortunately, such a pure crisp white would not stay like that for long in our house!

Great job :)

What a beautiful little pillow! I love, love all the white and bright you keep in your house. Perfect for those dark winter days.

I'm really enjoying your blog - it keeps my creative juices flowing.
