Brothers

The other day, Frank took Addison to the circus, and I got Anna and Jack ready to have some fun of our own, at the local donut shop.

As I was strapping Jack in, he looked to his left, and noticed Addison was not there. He looked for a long time. He noticed he was missing. His brother.

How cool is that? You know, to have a brother? To be a brother?

I mean you have someone to throw rocks with, get dirty with, toss the ball with.

Your brother.

Your boy.

Your bro.

Someone to look up to.

I started thinking again, as I was making these very funky shorts, about how badly I wanted a boy when we got pregnant for the first time. I was not shy about telling people the truth when they would ask what I was hoping for.

They were always very surprised at my answer.

For some reason though, I needed to have a boy. I was elated when I found out. And now, to have two. Well, it doesn't get better than that, in my eyes.

I love these days, these times.

I do hope that later in life, when they come home for a visit, from where ever they choose to be, they come with an empty belly, loads of laundry and say " Oh Ma, that smells good! I am starving!"

And we sit for hours after a meal and talk about life, politics, past vacations, and how I used to make them funky matching shorts.

My boys.

How lucky are your two boys to have each other, plus a great Mum to indulge them! I must admit there is something special about having a son. They look great in their matching funky shorts!

I love those shorts, too! So cool! I adore having my son. They sure love their Mamas! WHat is the age difference in your boys? I've been thinking of having one more baby, but Luke is already 3, so I'm afraid if I have another boy they won't play together.

How great to have 2 boys that you can make matching shorts for (and did you make Anna a dress that matched:)). LOve the post. They grow up so fast, don't they?

You post is so sweet. I have one boy, two girls. The girls make fun of me for making them matching pants when they were little. I bet the boys won't care.

My boy has a special place in my heart. Before I had him, I never imagined what a joy having a son would be.

So sweet... and I love their matching shorts! I have two boys and a girl sandwiched in the middle. I often wish she had a sister to grow up with.

Hi there, I am a new reader to your blog and I am loving it. Your home and children are lovely. I am from 'down under' and my life is very different to yours, so I find it all very fascinating.I am just wondering how you manage to kepp your house so clean and beautiful with three young children? How do you manage to get so much done, especially knitting? I too, have two boys and they are great. I also have a girl and wonder if I should have provided her with a sister so that she could have the same experiences! My boys are 13 and 11 and are best buddies. The ony problem with their empty bellies now is how much it requires to fill them! Keep up the good work.
