The other day, Frank took Addison to the circus, and I got Anna and Jack ready to have some fun of our own, at the local donut shop.
As I was strapping Jack in, he looked to his left, and noticed Addison was not there. He looked for a long time. He noticed he was missing. His brother.
I mean you have someone to throw rocks with, get dirty with, toss the ball with.
Someone to look up to.
I started thinking again, as I was making these very funky shorts, about how badly I wanted a boy when we got pregnant for the first time. I was not shy about telling people the truth when they would ask what I was hoping for.
They were always very surprised at my answer.
For some reason though, I needed to have a boy. I was elated when I found out. And now, to have two. Well, it doesn't get better than that, in my eyes.
I do hope that later in life, when they come home for a visit, from where ever they choose to be, they come with an empty belly, loads of laundry and say " Oh Ma, that smells good! I am starving!"
And we sit for hours after a meal and talk about life, politics, past vacations, and how I used to make them funky matching shorts.
