The Drive-Thru sweater

The Drive- Thru sweater is one of my favorite knits to date. Wanna know why?

Well first, it is knit in one piece, just a touch of seaming under the arms and that is it. When you are done knitting, you are done.

It took me four days to knit this. It is not just me either. I checked out some other bloggers who have made this, it took them anywhere from four days to a week to finish theirs as well.

You can use up some yarn from your stash for the stripes. It is called the Drive-Thru sweater because it is cheap and quick, and that it is!

I love knitting in the round. You can cast one, and go like the wind. Am I the only one who doesn't like to purl as much as I like tho knit?

I also decided to make a matching hat, using the same color pattern. This is a Christmas present for Anna. I also have enough yarn in my stash to make the boys a sweater and hat too.
For this one I used size 10 needles, lion brand wool ease in bluebell (1 1/2 balls) and Paton's chunky in white for the stripes.

I can't wait to give this to her. I know it is a bit early to be making Christmas gifts, but not for me. It is so much more enjoyable for me if I start early and get it wrapped and put away. Then I can relax more during the season, and when people open their gifts, it is almost like a surprise to me too.

Oh I love it!!! I wish I could knit a 1/4 as well - but instead, I rely on my Mom for my knitting projects (I can handle scarves and dishcloths with limited success). And it is not too early to start on Christmas gifts - I've started thinking on them already. And I always prefer the handmade gifts to the store brought ones as well.

Beautiful set, and I'm with you I hate sewing together the pieces and I prefer knitting to purling too!

I love your drive thru (and the matching hat), and I also love watching people open gifts that I have made. It's (usually) a gift in and of itself.

That is a great set, I love the button on top of the hat. And yes, I enjoy knitting far better than purling - not even sure why? I just do!
I did start on gifts early this year too but they seem to have gone in to hibernation and I'm knitting more for me and my daughter for the summer!

Love it! You are so talented Katie! I just purchased some lion brand....I could not believe the prices, great! I am used to paying so much for anything here, where I live....that is why a trip to michael's is so worth it for me!
Did you know they carry, already made (no fun), Amy Butler bags? $30.00- for knitting etc.
You are so smart to do Christmas early...I always give it my best effort and then it never fails- I am still wrapping on the 24th!

Such a nice sweater! I'm still scared to knit a sweater, I wish I could get over that.

You make such awesome stuff for Christmas already. Way to go! But you wrap it to? Unbelievable! How cool is that?

Love the Blue and White Colours on the sweater. I haven't done much knitting in recent years but with winter fast approaching and all the inspiration I am finding around the traps, I should go and investigate some wool. I am impressed that you are so organised for Christmas.

You are amazing. I hope your blog is still around when I pick up the needles for the first time on the fall (or maybe the summer?)

I will need some inspiration!

The sweater and hat are adorable. I heard once that because we learn to knit first, purling always feels awkward. I'm with you, I like to knit in the round. I also like to get an early start on Christmas presents. It's much more fun to get it done in bits and enjoy the family time together during the Season.

That is impressive. You really are knitting up a storm, aren't you? I, myself, have not picked up the pace.
But I really love the colours you chose. And that sweater in one piece??? I can't believe it.

I love this sweater and hat set, Katie!!! Every year I think - oh, I should get my Christmas stuff made/bought WAY before hand, and darn it - it never seems to happen! Good for you for making it happen! Love E

Wow, you have an early start on X-Mas! Yikes! That sweater is awesome and I can't believe you just whipped it out in four days, with a matching hat! I definitely prefer knitting over purling too.

I am super impressed that you are thinking Christmas already! After last year's Christmas crafting extravaganza, you would think that I would be on that bang wagon.

Love the sweater and hat and I am sure the kiddos will too!
