Speaking of Coats.....

Thanks so much for all the sweet lovin' on Anna's new coat. It was so fun to make, and I am so pleased that she loves it.
I am knitting myself a jacket (okay two jackets) right now.

This is my Debbie Bliss Drop Collar Cable Jacket. It is so darn close to being done, I can't stand it. Guess what? I ran out of yarn with only four rows to go. Oh yeah...the yarn that I used has been discontinued.
I did find some more though. Hopefully it will arrive soon, and I can finish this luscious project.

I have something else on the needles, as I wait for more yarn, so very impatiently. I am making the Neck down long hooded cardigan, from Knitting Pure and Simple. I have had this yarn and pattern since July. It is now cool enough to make it.
I decided on some Eco wool, in brown. This yarn is shaved right off the sheep and spun, (no dye lot number), so it is best to knit using two balls at once, changing every few rows.
You can see how the two balls are a slightly different in color in this picture.
Hopefully soon I will have some finished jackets to show!

P.S. Perhaps, "The Selfish Knitter" would be a better name for my blog?!

It's a little bit of a sick feeling, isn't it, running out of yarn, fabric, or even thread when you're so close to the end? Glad you were able to find some more to finish the last four rows. And I like the Eco Wool, too, very much. I like the fact that is does vary in color, has no dye lot number. Can't wait to see both jackets!

Oh I love both of these!!!! I love the orange color - doesn't it make you sick to run out of yarn/fabric/whatever when you are so close and it's discontinued? I can't wait to see both of them finished....

I LOVE that jacket!!! It looks like its a quick knit...is it? If so it'd be perfect for me. I get so frustrated and bored when it takes so long to make progress on a knitted project!

your knitting is so lovely. and I think it's great that you are making these beautiful things for yourself. :)

It's not selfish...Most people don't realize the time and effort that goes into a project like this. It's an indulgence, gift to yourself to keep something so divine.

That coat looks gorgeous! I can't wait to see it finished. Hey, if you have the talent - you SHOULD knit stuff for yourself, and you definitely have the talent!! :)

Selfish knitter? Not at all (this coming from the girl who only knits things for herself!). I am so excited to see that cabled jacket done, it is a beautiful color, bugger about running out of yarn! Also that eco wool is a lovely color, can't wait!

That coat looks great! Don't we always end up knitting for others?!? It's about time we all become selfish knitters!

Just saw you over on Arizona's site. You gals are sooooo talented. I can only relate in that I just read the Friday Night Knitting Club. That is about as far as I can go. OK... my grandma knitted. There!

But seriously, these are gorgeous pics.

Glad I stopped by for a visit. Happy WW!

Can't wait to see how the neck down long hooded cardigan comes out. I still have that pattern hanging out in the hopes that I will one day knit it :).

Oooh, aaah, that's some gorgeous yarn you're using. I can't wait to see the finished sweaters.

Selfish knitter?! If *you're* a selfish knitter, then I have some real problems! :)

I am a selfish knitter too! When I first started all I did was knit for other people to justify all the yarn purchases:)....not anymore, It's mine! That orange coat is gorgeous!

You take impeccable care of your family-that takes a huge amount of time, love and effort each day-you deserve to make your self as many sweaters, coats and garments as your heart desires! Don't feel selfish, enjoy snuggling up in a sumptuous sweater (or two, or five!) and know that you deserve them! I am dying over the Debbie Bliss fold down collar jacket, I saw it in the magazine too, but I think it is a bit beyond my skill level! I will admire yours as it nears completion-can't wait to see it done!
