I knew it would fit someone though. Jack was pretty happy with this one. Have I ever told you "knit" was one of his first words?
This pattern is very loosely based on a vest pattern I already had, but I quickly had to start doing my own thing to keep the hounds tooth pattern in tact. The head opening was too small for Addison, and so were the arm holes. I knit along without checking to see if it fit, because it was supposed to be a surprise. Not a good idea I guess. I had a bad feeling when I was done, tried to block it out a bit, but no such luck.
So glad if fits someone, and that it will be loved.
Pattern: Children's Cabled Vest from Lion Brand, using this Hounds tooth pattern:
Using two colors, and a multiple of four stitches,
Row 1: (RS) using A (brown) knit 2 *using B (white) knit 1; using A knit 3* rep until last 2 stitches, using B knit 1, using A knit 1.
Row 2: (WS) * using A purl 1, using B purl 3* rep from * to end.
Row 3: *using A knit 1, using B knit 3* rep from * to end.
Row 4 :using A purl 2, *using B purl 1, using A purl 3* rep to from * to last 2 stitches using B purl 1, using A purl 1.
Repeat these four rows.
Mods: I knit the size 4, but cast on 56 stitches to have a multiple of four stitches. I used the Hounds tooth pattern, no cables. Jack is about a 2 T so the hounds tooth pattern shrunk it up quite a bit. Perhaps I should have checked my gauge....oops.
I have picked out something new for Addison. I am really excited about this one!
