Glam Knits

Back in July, I ordered the fantastic Fitted Knits book, by Stefanie Japel. I was feeling really excited to dive into all the great patterns I have seen out there. As soon as I got it in the mail I got all situated in my lawn chair, with a cold carbonated beverage, ready to be inspired. Of course I was! I love all the patterns in that book, but something else really got my attention.

There, tucked in the back of the book was this stunning picture of Stefanie, wearing a sweater that had. to. be. mine. I became frantic, calling my local knitting store to see if they knew where I could get the pattern, I searched on the Internet, and was lucky enough to find Stefanie on Ravelry. I sent her a very desperate email and was so excited to hear back from her a few days later. She let me know it would be in her new book, Glam Knits, coming out this fall.
I finally got the book a few weeks ago, and went out to get some Cascade Tweed, and cast on right away.
I have to tell you that the pictures of the Texturized Tweed Coat are fine in the book, but it is the casual way that Stefanie wears it that I love so much.

Of course there are other knits in the book that have been added to my list. I love the green shrug, and the double breasted cardigan. Many of the patterns are knit in the top down style that I love so much.

This is my cardigan so far. It was hard to get a good picture to show you. The sleeves are knit flat, and seamed up later. I love the alternating rib at the bottom.
I am getting a bit anxious for this one. Can't wait to finish and show you the finished product!

That is so cute, You are lucky you can knit. I've tried and failed miserably. I guess there is a new yarn store that will be opening here in Kalamazoo Michigan, owned and Operated by a Maggie Jackson who is relocating from Ireland. Maybe I will get some lessons then. It looks overwhelmingly impossible to me.

Do you mean to tell me that you started on that cardigan "a few weeks ago" and you're already that far through it?

YOU ARE AMAZING.

I can't wait to see you put together that Tweed Coat. Really, too gorgeous.

It already looks amazing! You have a wonderful talent. I've promised myself that I'm going to learn how to knit after Christmas...of course, I'll probably be in the scarf/blanket/beginner stage for a while... :)

Hey Lady!
I am so jealous of your knitting know-how AND your growing wardrobe. I see what you mean about the "casual" way Stephanie wears her sweater: it doesn't even look to be the same sweater as in the book's photo. I know you'll wear it well!!!

Wow your cardigan looks almost finished already! How do you knit so quickly?! I'm sad to say that I haven't had time to go to the bookstore to check out Glam Knits, but I do intend to check out her patterns. I have Fitted Knits, but unfortunately haven't had time to knit anything from it yet. What's your favorite project from Fitted Knits?

Oh I can't wait to see it finished. And then I really ought to find the book!

Jeanie,
My favorite pattern in the fitted knits is the cozy v neck pullover. I made that one, and also want to make that long green coat with the chevron lace!

Oh, my, these are really nice knits. Hmm, another reason to try knitting. Maybe soon. I am afraid to try again. My sister (Stephanie, Creative Reveries) is going to show me some day soon..

I wish I could just raid your sweater stash. I am still poking along with my little project - I can't imagine how long it will take me to knit a sweater. I will do one though!

I saw her picture in the back of Fitted Knits and loved what she was wearing, too!! I looked in Fitted Knits like 3 times thinking it must be in there and I just missed it. How cool the pattern is in her new book. I still haven't knitted the tunic I want from Fitted Knits, so i might have to wait to buy her new book. If only I didn't have to sleep..... Your knitting is beautiful and I love the pattern on the bottom, too. Very pretty. It looks like it will wear well and be very comfortable.

that is a beautiful pattern. I love it. I will be very curious to see it all modeled up by you (hopefully you will do that for us the curious :) Love the yarn and I agree, a casual wear style would be great for that sweater.

That is exactly what I needed... to see someone being inspired and going for it. I can't knit, but I love reading about your enthusiasm for it. You're talented.

Do you eat? Do you sleep?...It's amazing to me how you get all that knitting done and raise a family. Ü

Don't you love that about the knitting community that you can just shoot a quick message to an author, designer, etc. and most of the time they write you right back? That sweater looks so *you*. I can't wait to see it finished!
