Birds

Every year we get the kids a new ornament and put it in their stocking. I decided to make some this year. I love, love the bird ornament from Last-Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts. A few weeks ago, I went through my scraps (my favorite part) and sat down to sew one for each of the kids.
I hunted for over two hours for my pattern, and I could not find it anywhere. I know I should have traced it and not used the template from the book, but if you are anxious like me, you understand.

I was able to track down some that I made last year, that will work though. They are all pretty girlie, except for the green, white, and brown one. I think I will give that one to Addison. Hopefully Jack won't mind that his bird is a bit feminine. Poor guy, he always kind of gets the short end of the stick. Hopefully my template will turn up before Christmas gets here. If not, I am sure he will love it anyway-at least until he is six, or so....

These are so sweet! That is the beauty of being little, a feminine bird will be just as delightful as a masculine one for Jack-it gets us mamas off the hook too! Ava will be having a home made Christmas until we have to break down and get her that one thing she sees at all her friend's houses and just has to have! I am so glad to hear that you and Frank are having a succulent, grown up, together date day and night! What fun! It has been over a year now for Chris and I-you will have a ball! Sat. the 20th could work, and Sunday the 21st could work-how about for you? The weekends seem to be filling up with dates this year-it seems so short between Turkel day and Christmas!

Whoops! That sounds like something I would do.
If you don't manage to find your template, I'd be happy to scan mine and email you a copy.

Stumbled across your blog and think you are incredibly talented! If you ever would like to consider consigning some of your handmades, we have just opened a boutique in Damariscotta selling all handmade goods by Maine women. The name of our shop is "kindred" and if it ever pleases you, contact me and we'd love to chat about getting some of your items in the shop!

I really want to get my hands on that pattern and make up a couple of birds...perhaps ornaments to give away next year. That quilt looks lovely...especially all that yellow!

I love the little birds. I have seen them popping up all over the blogs and flickr lately. I think they need to be on my list...for next year. and I agree, the best part would be using up the fabric scraps!

I was just thinking that those prints could also make a really cute snowman or stocking ornament or if you're feeling adventurous..maybe a dinosaur. Just a thought. =) J
