She was my roommate in college. When I got her name and number in the mail, the summer of 93 I called her right away.
Seems she liked to sleep in, and wear hats.
Hmmm, really didn't matter though. I believe we became best friends at first sight. She lives in New York, I live here in Maine and we see each other often. A few times a year we get together and shop, get our toenails done, eat McDonald's way too late at night, look at decorating magazines, and talk about what we will do when we meet again.
I think she will like this one.
Pattern: Cabled Beret, Debbie Bliss Knitting magazine Fall/Winter 08
Yarn: Malabrigo worsted, in Pale Khaki (so dreamy) one skein
I really love this pattern. I just may have to make one for myself.

Love the cables on this hat - it is gorgeous.
I have a very similar friend from college (and I was the one who liked to get up early and mysteriously my roommate liked hats). That hat is great!!! I'm sure she'll love it.
Beautiful hat and a lot of work. You only knit gifts like that for the really special people in your life - lucky girl!
i think lucky genevieve will LOVE it! and lucky you for having such a great friend in her...
Beautiful! I need to buy that magazine. You have made so many cute knits from it!
That is fantastic! How can she not love it?
Great looking hat, what a lucky friend you have. I like hats but they don't seem to look good on me.
Katie, This is so sweet.
Yippee....backflip, cartwheel, high kick!!!!!!I LOVE IT!!!!! It is absolutely gorgeous, you are soooo very talented...I am truly blessed with the gift of your friendship! I can not wait to get it, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Love you, Chris
It's official, Katie. I have to be your real-life friend!
such a wonderful friend you are, katie.
i adore that hat.
It is luscious, cables are a bit off in my knitting future, I think these are perfect! It will look great on her, just the right color to compliment her coloring! How about next Saturday afternoon for cocoa, a gingerbread delivery (it is already made, no getting out of it!) Dec. 13th? What time is good for you guys?
wooooooow! LOVE IT!!! I think I need the magazine just for that hat!
Its gorgeous! I love the color. I've heard that Malabrigio yarn is fantastic, but I have yet to get a skein (or two or three or four!). I finally found a yarn store near my house (other than JoAnns!!), so I think I'll pay them a visit...you've inspired me!
Wow that hat looks scrumptious! And smooshy! I have some Berroco Ultra Alpaca in the mail that I have to start making into gift hats. I can't wait to try Malabrigo. Is it more of a thicker worsted?
Gorgeous hat - love the intricate cable pattern!
what a gorgeous hat...and how lucky are you to have such a great friend, too.
It will look awesome on her - nice work!
