I love the
Built by You patterns. Really, if you are a sewer and want to make something for yourself but you never have, this is a great place to start. The pattern is so easy, and quick. The arms do run a bit small, but other than that, no complaints.

I made one for myself this weekend, and it came together in about two hours. I want to make one using a jersey knit fabric next.

The Details:
Mods: I added about two inches to the length. Next time I will add about an inch to the sleeves as well.
You can get these patterns at Joann's, just wait until they have their 99 cent sale!

looks great! I've had that pattern forever and never even opened it. One day I'll make one (at least that's what I keep telling myself).
That turned out very nicely. Now my wheels are spinning... hmmm...
Very, very cute. I need some new tops for work - guess I'll be watching the sales at JoAnn's. Looks good - love the colors!

I love the AMy Butler fabric...so pretty. It looks great on you. I just bought some fabric to make one too.
OOHHH I've made that one too and LOVE it. So very comfy. I to modified it and I also changed it so instead of the seam being in the middle back I did it as one piece for the back and had side seams. Love the fabric you chose.
What a wonderful top! I've not made much apparel, but this may be a great place for me to start, especially for something with some fit. Thanks for the link and info!
Love the print and the longer sleeve! This is my all time favorite pattern.
So cute! I can't believe you can just whip up a top for yourself like that. I really, really need to make my mom teach me to sew.
I love it, the fabric you chose makes it look very designer-I love that cut, especially for my post babe bell-I need to make one to make me feel like I have a new item in my wardrobe. I have had trouble with underarms with sleeves before, were these terribly difficult? Did you mean that you would add length or width to the sleeves?
What a great fit. LOVE your fabric choice!!!
beautiful! thanks for the tip!
Hi, I haven't been by in awhile...looks great, so does the sweater, and I had to laugh about the kids singing and dancing in the dressing room! :)
Cute! Nice to know that about those patterns.
It looks great and I love the fabric. I've been wanting to make that top forever. If the small sleeves bother you too much, you could rip out the sleeves and just bind the armholes for a cute summer top.
That is so cute on you! I'm amazed by your talent in creating things that look great on you!
Fantastic! Looks great on you.
looks beautiful! I should totally try this. I always hate the way store bought shirts fit.
That top looks great on you! Of course, everything looks great on you!!! :)
Oh my gosh, that is too cute! I have this pattern, but have only made the dress (I found the sleeves to be very small, too). Now I am dying to make a top!
Looks so cute! Just the other day when my Boden catalog came I said to myself, I need to start sewing things for myself. (Mainly because I wanted EVERYTHING in the catalog.) I sew clothes for my kids, but haven't ventured into it for me. So now I guess I'm going to learn to knit and sew things for me this year. Thanks for inspiring me once again!!!
You never cease to amaze me....love all your sewing and knitting!!
it's so great!!!
Adorable. Great job, as always...
This weekend I'm diving back into clothes sewing and hopefully end up with something I will actually wear in public.
Looks great! I gotta say that I've made this shirt in 4 fabrics, and it never fails to please. I seriously wear 3 of the 4 all the time. And I'm thinking about making one out of flannel tonight. I love it that much. :)
love love love! so springy!
This top looks great on you.... I love the way the arms are a snug fit, very stylish...
Jodie :)
