A little black cardi

Has it really been two months since I have knit myself a sweater? Wow. I am slacking. I have traded in my knitting needles for garden gloves, rakes, mulch, and well, you get the picture. I have been carrying around this project like a security blanket for a while now. I finally got serious last week and decided to be done with it already. I am in love with it. This is probably the most wearable sweater I have ever made because it goes with everything, and it so comfy.

I love that broken rib pattern.

The Details:
Pattern: Double Breasted Cardigan, from Glam Knits by Stefanie Japel
Size: 36
Yarn: Paton's Merino in black, 4 balls
Mods: Lots of mods. Instead of doing a lace collar all the way around the sweater, I did a 2x2 rib. I also kept the broken rib pattern, instead of changing to seed stitch after you separate the arms. I knit the arms straight down and did a 3/4 sleeve instead of a long sleeve.
I think I will end up wearing out the elbows of this one!

That's so cute! And awesome you made it. I tried knitting but my son liked to mess with it too much so I've given up for now. I'll try again some day. It's so cool to make your own clothes, isn't it?!

i LOVE it. i have a sweater with just that shape and collar from old navy, and i wear it at least twice a week.

however, being from old navy, it looked ragged after the third wash. i was just wearing it around the house this morning wishing i had a knitting pattern so i could make a replacement! what a beautiful job!!

What a lovely knitted sweater and it looks perfect on you, the color and the pattern. Was it complicated? It looks like it would be. You really are a wonderfully talented knitter along with all your other creative abilities!

It looks adorable! I'm really not good enough to knit mods. If I think I have to deviate from the pattern at all I start to break out in a cold sweat.

it's just perfect on you!!!

looks great! :) I really like that it's not a straight stockinette stitch-the texture is really neat.
Looks & sounds like your world has been busy, but as always, full of great fun.

Just wanted to get back to you. I didn't have to double up the yarn. It was nice and thick all on it's own. One skein for each mitt. You'll love them!

Very nice! You'll get alot of good out of that sweater. I agree 3/4 sleeves are the best.

Oh, Glam Knits, you strike again!

Great sweater, doll. Although I wouldn't beat yourself up for not having knit a sweater in two months.

That's just insanity - your knitting speed.

I think you have just made the perfect cardi. I was looking around for something like that all winter, with no luck.

I haven't ever tried anything as ambitious as knitting something for myself though - I worry about spending all those years (I'm a slow knitter) on it, then finding it doesn't fit.

That looks really comfortable! I like it alot!
