Small projects that make me happy

So, I had an idea for another quilt. It just didn't work out. I bought a bunch if vintage doilies and I wanted to sew them onto linen, and quilt around them in circles. Oh boy. I could not get them to lay flat. I even tried doing some of them over five or six times. I tried everything, lots of pins, four pins, sewing in a circle, sewing through them. You name it, I tried it.
I gave up and made a runner that I saw in this article, which is what made me fall in love with doilies all over again in the first place. I decorated our first home with them, then sent them off to a thrift store five years ago when we moved here. Isn't it funny how that happens?

A friend told me about a no-sew way to hide a chandelier cord. Just wrap a piece of muslin around it. Ah, instant gratification.

New flowers on my windowsill,

an old linen in a frame,

and this. A quilt and pillow for Anna's new doll cradle. I love it. I am going to put a Barbie in there when I give it to her. That is what she really wants for her birthday.
Oh, and a pretty dress. Of course, I can not forget to make her a pretty dress. I think she also said something about a big cake. A big pink cake. With lots of flowers on it.
I better get busy, I only have a month!
