I got a great book holder that looks perfect next to the new rocking chair. It was green, but I painted it white.
I have a gallon of Cottage White paint, by Behr. You can get it at Home Depot and I repaint a lot of stuff with it. Sometimes you find something that you love, but you know it won't go in your home, and this is the perfect solution.
This is the after. I painted the legs, and wrapped the whole thing with two layers of batting and stapled it on with a staple gun. I made the slip cover out of utility cotton that I found at Joann's. It is displayed by the muslin. I also bought the ruffle there too. It is so much easier to but it by the yard than to make it yourself.
I got my inspiration from a footstool that I saw in this Country Living article.

I love this little cradle I got for Anna. Her birthday is in a month, so I am going to give it to her then. I am going to make a pillow and quilt for it first.

So many of you have asked about the chickens. Here is a sneak peek at the coop. We are almost done decorating, I mean building it. Ahem.

SO many great things! Thanks for the tips on the white paint.
And I'm in love with that footstool transformation...esp b/c it has ruffles.
Treasures indeed!
i'm in love with your finds!! my mom will be here in three weeks so i can get some good thrifting/antiquing in. for some reason my husband won't go with me...
What great finds! I love how your home is in whites and natural colors. How do you keep everything so clean looking with kids? I would have never thought to make that table into a footstool - what a creative piece!
Great finds! I love the foot stool. What a brilliant idea...you are full of them!
Wow, your little ruffly footstool is darling! I really love how you transformed the table. You made it all sound so easy too!
You've an eye for tastefully and wonderfully decorating your home with the new or the old. Beautiful. The cradle is adorable. Your little Anna will be perfectly delighted with it, especially the doll quilt & pillow you'll include. Great spring days, these are.
I just may want to move in with your chickens! Looks like a lot of fun, before & after. :)
Oh my! You were busy this weekend! You must manage every second of your day in order to get everything done! I am starting to think you like white color :) I love your finds!
Wonderful treasures! That doll bed is perfect. And the hen house? You're killing me with the shingles, girl.
Our chicks arrive this week too. They'll live in the brooder for the first few weeks though since we get the one-day old and babies can't survive out in the coop.
Congrats on the treasure finds with your best friend.
Sara
You are full of goodies today! I love that newly painted white rocking chair!
I can't wait to hear about the chickens. We are thinking about getting some next summer. Definitely keeps us posted!!
I LOVE the footstool with the ruffles!! So great!
Them there chickens are gonna be living the high life...hahaha.
It looks like you had great luck with all of your weekend finds.

Love all your finds! And your creativity!
Great finds! I especially love the footstool make over - very elegant.
I LOVE the doll cradle. How fun it is to make all that little stuff. I used to make doll clothes, etc for my girls. You'll love the joy it is going to bring to her.
Just love the rocking chair - its amazing what a coat of paint can do! Tracey xx
You have been busy with great projects! Love your creativity!
Beautiful inspirations. Thanks for sharing each piece. A question: when you painted the chair and any other item, what type of brush or roller do you use? I want to buy an armoire at a thrift shop, sand and paint white, but I've seen some DIY painted wood and they are gloppy and thick--very unattractive. So if you could share your painting tips for furniture, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing! I have a wooden magazine rack made by my grandfather that I never knew what to do with - I don't why I never thought to paint it. Now I have one more thing to add to the list!!
Wow, those are some great finds! Painting things white (and having the paint on hand) that wouldn't otherwise fit in is a brilliant idea!
what great finds! and that's just about the cutest chicken coop i've ever seen!
great finds! you really have an eye for treasures. that chicken coop looks awfully swanky! those are going to be some spoiled ladies.
CHICKENS!
I'm very excited for your chickens.
i want to go treasure hunting with you.
quite the eye you have!
Love the coop. (We are going to call our the "hen house," because we already have an original 130-year-old coop on our property.) We got our chickies almost 1 1/2 weeks ago. It's an adventure, I'll tell ya. Now we have to start building ours.
You've been beautifully busy I see! What a lovely job you did with all your projects!
i LOVE love LOVE all your new treasures. that foot stool slipcovered is just perfect! and you are so smart to buy a pre-made ruffle. i'm going to have to remember that one. :)
The coop is a palace! What a big job, it looks great and the egg print?!? Perfect!
wow! great thrift finds! and thanks for reminding us that things have other lives and potential...even if we do not love them as is...we can love what they will become
