Another post about Peonies

I picked some more today. My house is filled with them. I love it.
I think they are the most beautiful flower. I would choose a bouquet of these over roses any day!

They are Nostalgic for me too.
I remember walking around the first house my husband and I bought with my father in law. I was so excited to show him the garden that was there. There was a beautiful Peony bush in the front yard and I was complaining about ants that came in each time I would cut some and bring them in the house.
" You know, you wouldn't have Peonies without ants," he said.
I still hear that in my head as I bring in a bunch with ants crawling up my arms, missing him so much.

I think about the day my sister came over to help me split that very same Peony. We hacked on that poor bush for hours. I thought for sure we killed it, but the flowers came up the next year in every place we planted it.

There is a lady who lives about a mile away from me. She sells the most gorgeous perennials. I get all my Peonies from her. Right from her soil to mine. Just like that.

It is Friday! We are excited.
Have a good one.

I have heard that compressed air used to clean keyboards works great to get the ants out.

Also, there is a Peony farm 5 minutes from my house that I just heard about....excited to visit soon. I love them.

Do you say PEE-a-NEES or pe-OH-nies??

We moved into this house last year and I was delighted to find two of the biggest peony bushes I have ever seen. They are both white and I'm pretty sure that I need to plant some other colors because I love them SO much. They seem to last a long time inside too. Longer than my roses.

Question: When is the best time to move them? I want to try to split them and move them to different places in the yard. The previous owners put them both in kinda weird spots. At least the look misplaced to me.
Any tips?

love the peony love - they are my favorite flower also and have been forever. I miss my peony bushes so much - I live by the ocean now in the deep south and so can't grow them but I had so many when I lived further north. Thank you so much for sharing such gorgeous pics of yours!!!

I love those fat pink peonies! I also really like the pic on your kitchen wall. Is it a personal piece or something you picked up somewhere?

Yup! it's peony time around my place too. I love peonies and surprisingly enough, they seem to do just fabulous in our cranky weather. The more neglected they are the better they seem to grow.
