I made a Gumdrop Pillow yesterday using a white sheet I already had. I saw a big white floor pillow in a magazine and it has not left my mind. I made one using the Gumdrop pattern from Amy Butler, with a few alterations.
The alterations I made were pretty easy. I followed the instructions, but I left the top panel off. Then before I stuffed it I made a big cover button. I secured it by putting a very long piece of embroidery floss up through the bottom, then at the top tacking down the button, then the bottom again. I tied a loose knot, stuffed it, and sewed up the opening.
After that, I flipped the pillow upside down, and sat on the it placing the knot between my knees and pulled until I got the look I wanted. I tied two really tight knots.

Girl you are just to crafty. I love all the neat things you come up with and your house just looks so chic. Does the outside look as amazing too? I wish I could make a slcip cover for our couch,I have bought many and always hate how they look and of course NEVER stay in place if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Happy napping.
Looks great I love the way this looks with all your slip covered furniture and I agree with you, a little paint and a nice slipcover does wonders
Looks like the perfect pillow to prop your feet on. I've been enjoying your decorating pictures lately. Love all the white.
Lovely and perfect as always, doll. Although, I gotta ask, how long does a white ottoman stay white at your house?
Around here, that'd be asking for trouble.
Our golden, Sam, always seems to come around when I am taking pictures. So funny!
Love the pillow, by the way!
You're not cheap, you're thrifty and SMART! Hey, in this economy, it's great to find ways to embelish this-or-that with little money. I applaud you! Gawd, I love your house. :-)
You may wish you were better at photography, but I wish I were better at sewing! You are a wonder to behold when it comes to white fabric. :D
Thanks for the suggestions on making it my own, I have been thinking about making an ottoman for my little living room.
This looks so cool!
Like a giant, peaceful, puffy marshmallow!
You are amazing! That is one of the cutest things I've seen.
I go from one extreme to the other. Extremely thrifty to highly frivolous. I remember making a little tuffet once, and the satisfaction I felt afterwards was elating. Have a great weekend.
I was passing by your blog and had to comment on the name Addison. Our daughter is named Addison, because of the town of South Addison, ME. Where did your inspiration come from? And how in the world do you keep all that white clean with three kids and a dog!?? I would love to do white in my home but am terrified of the dirt. :)
You have the magic decorating touch! The gumdrop pillow looks very welcoming - what a relaxing corner of your room.
I haven't left a comment in a while, but I just had to drop back in and tell you how much I have been loving all your recent posts sharing your decorating ideas. Just LOVE them. I have a fondness for all things white also and so I have enjoyed these glimpses into your home immensely. And it just tops it off to see all the creative ideas you have - such an inspiration!!!

Hmmm. Wish you could come to my house and spruce it up. Nice job on the pillow!
Brilliant ~ Well done, Katie!!
how fun! what a beautiful space!
That is fabulous! Great job~ I admire you having so much white - I too like white, but tend to go with linen to hide the dirt four boys can bring in...
Happy Sunday,
xo
