lovely front shots! the only thing i can think of is basement waterproofing, because we had to rip out all of our bushes! but it's probably something glamorous! :)

Chris said...

Are you getting a front porch?!

Stephanie said...

Ummmm...building a porch?!

Autum said...

I'm guessing a porch is in the works too.

Renee said...

I'm guessing you translanted them to make room for a porch across the front of the house too.

beki said...

I guess I'll go with the majority and say front porch. Are you plannign on listing any more bracelets like that? I have the perfect necklace to match it!

Becky said...

Ok...if it were my house it would be b/c the kids just dug up all the plants and I had to think of something to put in their place. And I would tell my husband it is the perfect time to put in an overhang and a porch with a porch swing.

Sarah Jackson said...

I also say porch. I can't imagine any other reason to tear out those lovely hydrangeas.

jessieg said...

If it's a porch, I'm super excited! I love your house. I love saltbox/colonial homes!

Me Time said...

I would have to guess a wrap around front porch! That is the only reason I can see to dig up that beautiful landscaping.

QuiltedSimple said...

You're building a porch......love your house too!

Porch Porch Porch! :)

Catherine Hansen Peart said...

You removed the plants when you discovered they were all poisonous to children??

nicole said...

wrap around porch... that is what i would do with your house!!

Leah S said...

Oddly enough, my first thought was you're painting the house. Guess #2 was you're planting an edible landscape. New porch didn't cross my mind at all. :)

I'm a little late to the party but I'd have to say you're getting new siding and adding a front porch....although it's not a very original guess. What ever you're doing it's going to be great!

sarah said...

Hmmm... you've decided to extend your love of all things white to the flora in the front yard? Out with the old, in with the new!

NICO Designs said...

It is what happens when you let little ones play in the yard!
Getting ready for a big project...

I thought maybe new landscaping at first glance, but now I feel like I should say porch too! :) Whatever it is, I know it will be beautiful!

amy said...

I see that you pulled out most of your bushes...and that can only mean one thing! You must be building a porch! Yay porches! I love having a porch. It's so nice to have on on lazy afternoons. :o)

crochetgurl said...

Hmm...the only difference I see is that the bushes have been all pulled out. I will guess that you're putting in a beautiful, white porch to drink cool glasses of lemonade on sunny days. :-)

Erin Koch said...

I'm with everybody else and guessing a porch. We are dreaming of our own porch and it MUST have a swing!

Anonymous said...

We recently had to pull up ours because of root rot. Yours look to pretty for that. Hmmm, maybe termites or laying rock or the ever popular new wrap around porch in white.

Chicken Herder from Westville said...

Porch maybe?

Val in the Rose Garden said...

I am not guessing porch... but not because I don't want to be a joiner... but because there is still a hosta to the left of the stairs and that would be gone if you were building a porch! I will guess that you are redoing the siding, waterproofing the foundation (not that that is really guess worthy) or something that related to that... But I like the addition of kid. It is a cute addition. ;)

darn...everyone is saying a porch...hmmm? i say that you are putting in a rock garden!? ha!

Blossom said...

My first thought was you've removed the plants to allow easy access for re-painting the house...???

Fran said...

You just sold all your plants to buy more fabric??

Marsel said...

Bummer, I was coming to say that you're getting a front porch, but I see that I'm not the only one to guess that!

Definitely a porch ! Awesome !

A porch, a porch! Or, you're painting the house? I'm piggybacking on others' guesses. :) Whatever it is, you sound so excited so I am sure it will be great!

Aimee said...

A porch? If so, I am uber-jealous. Great bracelet!

kelly jo said...

I was thinking porch until I saw that one remaining plant...hmmm....that makes it harder to guess! I'll go against the norm and guess that your having a professional landscaper come redo the front?

Suzanne said...

I would say front porch as well, but because there's that lone plant, I'm thinking that you are replacing the front bed with only hydrangas.

Silent Company said...

I am guessing that you are repainting or residing the house??

Kigwit said...

A front porch/veranda? It would look lovely on your house.

dodi said...

You're changing your siding to WHITE!?!? (sigh....) probably not -- why would that require removing all your landscaping?

OK, OK... I'll join in on the majority - you're adding on a porch, with white rockers, white flower boxes/pots, a white sign with your house numbers on it and... :)

Can't wait to hear what it is!

ColorSlut said...

Taking out the plants in the front - getting ready to build?

Marilyn said...

OK, everyone else said porch (my first thought), so I will say new landscaping and great new walkway.

Rachel said...

I also think front porch (although where I am from, we call them "decks").

Holly said...

Getting ready to paint???

Harley Dee said...

I would say a new porch too. I just love a good porch :D

lulusparkles said...

a new wraparound porch for
you
woohoo

New front porch? I can't wait to hear/see what you're doing!

Front porch? It would look lovely. I love front porches!

My guess is a big front porch is going in all the way across the front of that stinkin cute house!

craftoholic said...

Oh, you're getting a porch?? I saw so many wonderful porches during my trip back East, studded with rocking chairs and beautiful planters. It would be amazing to sit there in the evening and watch the daylight fade away.

Ginger said...

You ripped out all the plants......I'm totally looking forward to what will happen next!

countrychicken said...

Awesome looking house, one of those old country porches would look good - or - you have decided to go with the no shrub look?

Beth said...

It can't be that you were tired of your hostas and other plantings... some kind of addition, I'm guessing. Or you have a child on the second picture... preggers?

Susan said...

I'd guess a porch. Can't wait to see it when it's done!

angela said...

I see many already guess what I was thinking - looks like a wonderful front porch will be going on soon!

Julie said...

What a beautiful home you have... I love the red and all the windows! I'm a little late in guessing but I'd say your adding a front porch too!

Shannon said...

Definitely a new porch! It will be lovely! Great idea (if I and everyone else who guessed porch is right! :o)

You had deer?

katiegirl said...

I'm going to guess you're doing new landscaping.

Leanne said...

Hmmm, why would someone rip out all their plants in front of their house? Are you building an awesome porch to go on the front of that beautiful house? I can't wait to find out!

Katlyn said...

Porch was my guess too but I think most people beat me to it.

When will I be Zen said...

I'm guessing you picked all the beautiful hosata during the summer and now there are none left. I loved seeing them displayed on your blog. Will you plant more for next year or something new?

martha - ca knitter said...

Is it the obvious missing shrubbery? Are you making space for someting?

Jenny B. said...

Bushes and plants removed to prepare for something new...a lovely porch perhaps. (P.S. cute kiddos added!)

Meagan said...

Oh my! Are you pregnant?!? Are you building an addition for another bedroom!?! Okay, maybe I am just reaching here, but I had to guess!

Vickie said...

My guess is a big front porch. Perhaps enclosed for spending the day outside enjoying all types of weather.

Fran said...

You are knitting new plants for easier maintenance??

jen said...

Porch, porch, porch, of course! I can't wait to see it.

Shorty said...

Looks like you care hanging out your landscaping! How fun! Can't wait to see what you plant next... Or, wait... is it the porch idea???

contact me said...

Maybe your front bed of plants were invaded by deer like our garden?! A front porch seems to be the most popular guess so that is what I am going with.

FinnyKnits said...

Well, you're either redoing your foundation (good lord I hope that's not it - yeouch) or relandscaping?

Is that two guesses?

I hope it's the porch that other people guessed though, that's way more fun.

MoniCue said...

A porch, of course.

hmm.. not sure if anyone guess this yet, but i'd guess a bug (slugs?) devoured your plants in the front to the point you have to replant. Of course, I hope this isn't true, but those things can really do a number on landscaping :)

Kelli said...

Well, I see that I am very far behind in guessing a front porch, but I will anyway. We LOVE our porches and use them a ton in the fall and spring...Florida summers are all you've ever heard about and worse (even with ceiling fans on them--and yes we have fans on our porches)!!!
Have fun with whatever it is!

I've had a second thought...you might be going for a peony/hydrangea garden in white...either way, I'm sure it'll be beautiful!

Well I deleted my first guess because I just figured it out!!! Your getting a dog and you want to have a puppy safe garden!

My original guess was you decide to bring your house cleaning/renovating to the outside and change the front garden...but I like the puppy idea better!!!

Peace and God Bless

Well, since I love the turquoise bracelet, I'm going to give it a whirl.

I think you have ripped out your plants in preparation for putting in planter boxes and/or adding bay windows!

Thanks for hosting a fun contest.

Mud Covered Teacups said...

My husband and I are perplexed. My husband doesn't think the bracelet is worth it...I do thank you. I've gotta go with a porch, hopefully a wrap around one with cedar ceiling. I have one and Love it.

Sue said...

You dug up all your plants!! What an enormous task! Something good must be ahead!

Tanya said...

My first guess would definetly be a new paint job, but is that too obvious?! :) I DO hope it is a porch -- I can't wait to see how you decorate it.

paigely said...

i'm joining in the votes for porch :) it will look absolutely beautiful, and all the white i'm sure you'll decorate with will definitely set off that red wonderfully!

Adina said...

let's see-I'll say because there will be a front porch (sounds like you like those)

MarinsMommy said...

I am going to say you are having a rock wall planting bed put in and are going to fill it with white flowering bushes. Either that, or the kids got a hold of a shovel and dug up everything while you were knitting! :o) Your house is gorgeous, by the way! I love the red....my next house will be red too!

hooli said...

A wrap-around porch is replacing your gorgeous plantings?

larissa said...

I'm so late to the party! but I have to chime in and say you're adding an enclosed front porch (painted white) because that bracelet is absolutely gorgeous! If I don't win will you place one in your shop (and earmark it for me)? please? good luck with all the construction - i know it will be gorgeous!
