I cast one for Felicity last night. It is time I start wearing hats.I love being Domestic. Some days more than others. I used to dream about being home to hang laundry out on the line and bake when I had a real job. I hated the traveling that I had to do. Hated the long hours too.
Some people understood, some thought I was crazy to want to stay home all day and play house.
I hope that whatever you do all day, you love it and you are where you want to be.

I understand! It is lovely to stay home and play house! Your house looks like the nicest and coziest kind of inviting house too! I so love how you arrange and then rearrange everything so prettily! Hey Katie! I am making chili today too. Perhaps I should run out and get some limes and cilantro (one of my favorite herbs). Oh, yes, I hear you about working....I did for 20 years and now I love, love, love staying home and puttering all day (when I am not watching the granddaughters). I LOVE Felicity. It's the first hat I made for daughter, and my favorite one on her. Maybe I should make her another one.

It's a perfect fall day for comfort food - rainy, with a bit of chill in the air. I made a big pot of Senate Bean Soup. We will enjoy it for dinner tonight w/a garden salad and bread. A cozy fire in the fireplace sounds like the ticket too!

I am a firm believer in domesticity--it is a dying art, I must say. I have been home for 18 years after working at a very stressful job in advertising and while there were times when I longed to be back in the "adult" world, I am so glad I had the chance to stay home with my kids. So keep playing house! (You make it look especially easy and fun!)
love all your fall knitting! and you make me want white pumpkins - even though they don't really match my house - you also make me want to paint my whole house white! I love staying home - I used to work very long hours & weekends - and creating a warm home for my kiddos is what I want to do. you inspire me.
i have never seen white pumpkins, they look "magical" in a way, seems chili is beginning its calling!
I never thought that I would enjoy staying home. Now I can't believe my life is so great that I GET to stay home! I feel ya! :D

I love this! Today marks a week of being a stay at home mom for me! I left my job last Wednesday because I just needed to be home and "play house" with my daughter! It's fantastic!
Yummy on the chilli! I'll have to try that. I love being home playing house whenever I get the chance - so grateful now that I only work 30 hours a week:) Love your new mittens!

I love this post--I stay at home, too, and I just love being able to tend to the small details--cooking muffins for surprise breakfasts, baking cookies for after-school snacks. (Of course, there is more to it than baking...)
I love the Bella mittens and am hoping to make them for my teenaged niece for Xmas. And that hat! I may have to make this for myself--finally a hat that I can wear!
I love days when I can be stay in and decorate and bake. It gives me so more fulfillment than anything else I do. The Bella mittens are beautiful, and all of that white is just so inviting. Lovely.
I completely understand! When I'm at work, I mostly daydream about doing domestic things at home, too. But I don't dare tell anyone...I can think of very few colleagues who would understand!

I agree. I love to be domestic in the 1930's sense. I can, thrift, repurpose my way through life and truly, honestly enjoy it. Esp when I have had my coffee. ;)

oh no i totally understand! i work because i have to...but what i would love to do is to be at home all day! i am a homebody and being domestic is wonderful! baking, cooking, cleaning, sewing, knitting, taking care of the home!
i love being domestic, too. nothing homier than a pot of soup on the stove. the kids doing homework and the sewing machine humming away. ah, bliss.
