I decided to rip out the hood seam and the arm seams which were awful. I did them over and the second time around wasn't much better. I decided to stop focusing on it and just enjoy the new sweater.
I am sure after time I won't even notice some of the Frankenstein stitching.
I hope.
The hood in the back is oversized, to say the least. I wanted to do something with all the extra fabric, so I put a button under the collar so I could wear it closed sometimes. I saw that someone else on Ravelry did the same thing with a pin and that looks amazing.
Pattern: Georgie, from Breeze by Kim Hargreaves.
Yarn: Knitpicks Organic Cotton, sport weight, 12 balls. I have to say that this yarn broke a lot while seaming. I blocked the sweater by putting it on the hand wash cycle in the machine, and the yarn broke in two places and left a huge run. I was able to fix it, but I wasn't pleased.
I does look and feel great after blocking though.
Size: 36
Mods: Nothing, except for the added button.

This is LOVELY. Can't help you on the seaming - i try to avoid it at all costs, but seriously a very pretty sweater! You'll get a lot of use out of it, that is for sure....

Very charming.
very nice! You'll get lots of wear out of that sweater. I love the versatility of the collar! Great job!
The sweater came out beautiful. I don't see any flaws at all and it looks great with the scarf and boots. :-)
Oh, I love your Georgie -- looks great!
A while back, I made the 'Slouchy Cardigan' with cotton and had the same trouble with seaming -- just doesn't have the same give & sproing as wool, does it? I'm afraid I had "Frankenstein" (LOL) stitching too. Could not do mattress stitch seaming on that cotton to save my life, so just ended up with somewhat untidy backstitch seams -- another learning experience for me ;-).
Blessings,
Georganna
TOTALLY Cute! I think I like yours better than the one in the book. It turned out really nice.
It looks so elegant on you! You look like you stepped off a movie scene. No one is going to notice the seaming. I don't do well with cotton either. If there are tricks, I'd sure like to know what they are.
It's Lovely!!
It looks it great. Congrats on finishing it. I cannot imagine knitting with cotton. I have a sweater my mom made me out of cotton years ago. She said it was very very difficult.
Your sweater is beautiful. I hope you enjoy it. I wonder, could it be knit with wool?
Best wishes.
Beautiful. And it looks lovely on you.
I just love it!!!!
you have done a great job..it looks fabulous...seaming cotton, (my mum the avid knitter always says)....block it, seam it and send it to the dry cleaners before wearing...works a treat...(i dont know whether its because you stop looking at it for a few days, or you give the problem to someone else to sort out, but it always comes back looking perfect!!).xx
Finishing IS a lot of work! Your Goergie is superb! I hope it will keep you warm this fall. Congratulations!
Wow, it looks amazing on you! Love the other clothes/accessories that go with it too! :-)
I love it! Looks great on you - I need to get that book!
That looks really amazing. Your right that cotton is not as forgiving as wool. What size needles did you use? I can't wait to see it in person.
First i want to say it looks gorgeous on you! But I also hate knitting/seaming/anything with cotton or acrylic. It doesn't seem to do what you want ever and it has no give.
Your sweater looks great!!
Re: Cotton, I've decided I don't much like using it. It is not your imagination - I too have found the stuff to be harder on my hands to knit with and it isn't as springy or forgiving as wool.
Gorgeous! The drape of the sweater is just lovely on you. I love to see all the sweaters you create. I am hoping one of these days to actually finish one of the two I have started! :)
Oh my goodness, that sweater is BEEYOOTEEFUL! I mean really...just gorgeous. Great color, great fit, and I see no trace of wonky seaming. I have had the same trouble with cotton...so I just don't use it very much. I think I've only made one adult-sized garment with it, and that was a short-sleeved top knit all in the round. I can see how seaming a whole sweater would be difficult. But honestly, I doubt anyone but you will notice. Everyone else will be distracted by how fabulous it looks on you!
Great job on the sweater! I love it.
Also, where the heck did you get those boots? They're fantastic!
It looks fantastic! Brava!
Wow this is gorgeous!!
It looks beautiful, but I hear your pain with cotton. It's totally brutal. It forgives nothing and won't do what it's told.
Good job getting it all finished though - as my grandma would say - wear it in good health :)
Oh, Georgis looks fantstic! Right out of the Anthropologie catalog!
Just came from Team Knit-WOW! Your knits are to die for and so inspiring!
I love your Georgie. You look great in it. Your boots are to die for cute too. All in all, you're very fashionable I'd say!
I absolutely love it! What a perfect cozy sweater for the mild weather that we get here in the pacific northwest.
Great job!
xx
I love, love, LOVE, drapey sweaters! It looks fabulous on you!
Happy knitting-

oh, katie! it looks amazing!
i do find cotton to be less forgiving then wool....
but i bet you are the only one that notices those seams... and perhaps they don't even bother you now!
looks good to me! i am sure the only one who notices the seaming is you!
love your sweater, love your porch!
It looks stunning. Exactly the kind of cardie that I want to have, but am too lazy to attempt and too short to fit any store-bought options...
I love this! Perfect for fall days!
