Sometimes you get something that you didn't know you wanted.
These past two weeks, Herbert Burger has really been acting like a rooster.
He crows every morning, and has been sassing the girls.
You can tell he thinks he is very important as he struts around the yard.
To tell you the truth, I think he has a crush on me.
I woke up to the sound of Herbert Burger, and as I opened my eyes, I saw the first snowfall of the year.
We peeked in to say good morning to them, and Addison spotted the first egg!
The first egg.
The first snowfall.
This day is so good.

He is one handsome fella.
Hooray for your first egg! Soon you'll be overrun. Enjoy!
Be VERY careful, especially with young children. I saw a rooster turn on my nephew and did as much damage to his face as a dog could. Nerve damage and permanent scarring. Sorry to rain on your parade, just a warning that they can turn on you in a heartbeat.
Oh what a handsome rooster! Waking to the sound of his crows sounds lovely ...and what a fabulous day of "firsts"...nothing like the first snowfall ♥
You're going to sooo love fresh eggs.
We always had one rooster, they really do help to protect the hens if they can once they're mature.
We never had a problem with any rooster we had from chick on, as long as they were used to people and there was only one rooster. If there were 2 we sold one, theyn they can get nasty. If your kids hand raised and were around the rooster then he's used to them and probably not going to take any issue. Makes a difference how they're raised.
Oh how fun, he sure is cute but I had no idea that a rooster could be so mean, the anonymus comment, is scarey, who knew, but maybe since he has been around you all since he was little it will make a difference. I can't believe we are having record heat and you are looking at snow, I'm so jealous(;

what about that early morning alarm clock he sings out....we had to give our suprise rooster away...the entire family slowly became sleep deprived...
Very cool. Your post made me laugh.
The crow was sassing the girls...I love it! LOL
His a purrty fellar too.
Yay, an egg!!! He is very cute!
I do believe you have a stocker on your hands.
Oh he is so very cool. I can't wait for the first snow flakes to arrive. You will have to take a pic of your eggs for us all to see. I wonder if you will have different colored ones?
Oh, how wonderful!
Oh, wow! He is so regal! I love him and his name. Congrats on the first egg.
Oh how I am laughing. Adam and I went rockclimbing in Nevada one year and stayed in a tiny Motel right by Red Rock Canyon. Every morning the meanest rooster would wake us up. Then this hen started hanging out on the window sill (don't even know how she climbed up there) and she would cluck incessantly. One morning Adam went out at like 4:30 a.m. and scared her off the sill, man was the rooster mad! He tried to attack Adam, but well, that did not go very far...the rooster never came back.
An egg and a snowfall?!? Not bad! I'd keep that Rooster around, too!
Cute rooster! Snowfall already?!
