Down and Out

I guess we all just down. Down with H1N1. Everyone in the house is asleep right now and I am trying to enjoy the quiet, but I just can't. I am lucky. I seem to have only a touch of it. Everyone else has had a fever since Sunday. Addison got it first and has been hit the hardest. Anna threw up in our bed last night, everyone one of the kids has had a horrible bloody nose, that has dripped through the house, a cough that will not quit, a need for something all of the time. Which is fine of course. I am happy to be the one that is able to provide, but today I feel like it is all I can do, to not burst into tears.
I am worried about my family, about Addison missing so much school, about all of the things that I want to get done before Christmas.
Okay, enough of that. Deep sigh. Let's talk about something yummy.

See that book? I got it at the library book sale for a dollar. The binder even cracked a little when I opened it. I don't think it had ever been used.

The first thing I made was this yummy Wild and Brown Rice Salad. It was so good, I have made it three times already.
This time I added some leftover corn on the cob. SO good.
Stay well my friends. And thanks. For everything.

Oh, I definitely relate. I've been sick since Saturday and can think of nothing except all the things that are not getting done while I lie in bed and cough and blow my nose. This is brutal. I hope you are all better soon. Love, love the cream sweater in your last post.

Goodness I hope everyone is feeling better soon. (I used tamiflu and it did seem to make me feel better faster than myhusband who did not use it. If it matters.) :-)

Get well soon! Even if you are too sick to knit, you can hold the yarn in your hands simply for its comforting properties. :)

I'm so sorry that your family has been hit so hard. My nephew lives in California and has a very severe case with pneumonia. That stuff is nasty. Prayers being sent that your whole family will get better very very soon.

Hang in there Katie!!!! Both of my kids had very mild cases, but the cough is still here - if your doctor should prescribe tussi caps for the cough- it's expensive but works so incredibly well. Hope you are all on the mend soon!

Oh no, I hope your family recovers soon! Did you get the H1N1 shot? I wasn't going to at first, but then I finally got it. If you're under 49, it's just an easy nasal spray.

My little sister Johanna is 11 and she just had the Swine Flu about a month ago.

It kind of came and went very quickly with her.

Now my Mom is just getting over it.

She did not escape as easily as my sister and it reeeaaallly knocked her for a loop.

It's so scary but it will turn out alright.

Hang in there, you are sooo not alone!!!

Oh, bah humbug. :(
H1N1 went through all of us in our house in October, so I know just how you feel. Wishing you all well as soon as possible!

We all had it too, about 6 weeks ago - Marin and I are STILL coughing. It is no fun - the biggest thing to remember is keep the kids hydrated! Now is a great time to buy those giant boxes of sugar-free popsicles! (It was all Marin would eat for a couple of days) Let me know if you need anything - I will be up at mom's on Friday! - Susan

Stay strong and don't worry about the holidays - they will be perfect so long as everyone's healthy! Hope you all are better soon!

It is so hard when you're ill and having to take care of others. I was finally able to get the h1n1 flu shots for my high risk kids today. I've been so worried about them getting it as they have severe asthma. The non-asthma kids will get it tomorrow.

I do hope you all feel better soon.

Of all the times of year to have everyone sick. I think you need a hot cup of tea or coffee and a row or two of knitting. Things will get done, us Mom's always find a way so try to relax and know that better times are right around the corner. Hope everyone is feeling better soon and remember to rest your self.

Oh, I'm so sorry for you guys. My entire family had H1N1 before Halloween. It was terrible and I thought it wouldn't end and then everyone suddenly took a turn for the better when I was at my wit's end. Feel better soon!

oh Katie, sorry to hear about the flu hitting your house. We had it about a month ago (which was really scary since John got it), but we all survived. I haven't been that sick since I was a kid. Although there were no bloody noses around here. Anyway, hang in there and hopefully everyone will be on the mend soon! :)

I love your blog and am amazed at your talents, especially how quickley you turn out beautiful knitted sweaters. I am an experienced seamstress, but not so much on knits. I want to make the cute cape/shawl. Could you send me your tips for sewing with knits? denisepick@gmail.com

Hang in there-just a bit longer. Maybe the mantel won't be as dressy this year but you will be ok in the end.
