I like the way it came out, okay. I do wish the collar was bigger, and I should have done less increases to the front, but other than that, it is a keeper. I used Lion Brand Quick and Thick yarn, just over three skeins. This yarn makes me nostalgic. It is the first yarn I bought two years ago when I was learning how to knit. I made myself a scarf. Just a scarf, but I was so proud.
I get a lot of emails asking me where to start, if you want to learn how to knit. The best advice I can give is visit your local yarn store and grab a book with the knitting basics. It is also a great place to go and ask for help, or sign up for a class. I think the hardest part about knitting is reading patterns. Once you can do that, you are golden! Remember, there are only two stitches in knitting. Knitting and purling. It is really easier than it looks.

The pattern is wonderful and the color looks so good on you! You should draw up the pattern!
How did you do that? It is totally cute. Do you have the pattern? I'd love to make something like that!
You are right - just saying it gives people encouragement. I have only been knitting for a year (since high school) but having someone who can give advice and now YOUTUBE - anything can be done! LOVE the sweater!!
Sometimes I think that just trying is half the battle. There are so many things I am afraid to try (such as weaving or spinning). Good thing my mom taught me to knit before I was old enough to think I couldn't possibly do it! That sweater is so great on you. I cannot even believe you have not been knitting forever!
It's just awesome! Thanks for giving encouragement to try designing.
Its GORGEOUS! I only know how to crochet and I have nothing that cool that I've made... that I can actually WEAR! Well done - I think it looks perfect!
Nice job with YOUR fab new pattern. Very cute and flattering :)
Enjoy not shoving your sleeves into coats - I hate that, too.
It's gorgeous!!! Great color and shape.
Cute, cute, cute!!! I love the shape and color - are you going to share a pattern with us?

Very cute. I remember sitting down to knit for the first time. 7 mos. pregnant with my twin daughters and unable to comfortably walk; my MIL tought me to knit a dish cloth while we were visiting her. I have thanked her many times for teaching me. I too love it and can not imagine squeezing a little knitting into (almost) every day! Great sweater! Congrats on taking the design leap!!
Oh i love it i love it...the style, the colour...it is perfection! you are such a talent...always fun to stop in a see your latest creation!
cheers my friend!

What a beautiful design!
That is such a nice sweater and to design it yourself - what an accomplishment. I think you do a beautiful job on all your knitting and who knows in a short time we could be getting your patterns off Ravelry!! Keep on knitting.

I love it! I would love the pattern!

i just got the urge to make something (last week!) and so i did! you are SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!
Just perfect. I also knit every day, it is such a wonderful hobby. Thanks for being such an inspiration! I also can't believe you have been knitting for such a short time!!
Once again, you have rocked my world. Making your own patterns? Unbelievable!
i love it! great fit, and the color is just so cheerful!
Just two years ago you learned to knit and now you can improvise your own pattern! Congratulations! To me the most difficult part about knitting was the tension and then, correcting errors. Anyways, you should write your pattern!
I love this sweater. I have a couple of those fleece vests that I wear with long sleeved tops in the winter. It's just easier to slip on than putting a jacket or coat on and they're warm. BUT I think a sweater would be even better.
Love the color!

Your sweater is so PRETTY! Reminds me of SPRING! Very, very, very, very GOOD job, Katie.
So festive and you'll wearing it all Spring I suspect. Would look so cute with an antique brooch or kilt pin closing the front.

I LOVE your sweater!! And I'm excited to hear that you've jumped into the world of design. I can't wait to see what else you come up with!
I also forgot to say... Thank You for giving me the courage to try knits. I finally tried one! And I love it. It's a little bit different pattern than the 1-hour cardi you made. But it's very similar. Thank you! Sometimes creativity must start with courage. So, thanks for sharing a bit of yours.
Kindly,
Julia
It's a really cute sweater and it looks great on you!
What a wonderful sweater! It think it turned out great and love how you empower others!
That is awesome, you should post your pattern on Ravelry!
I've been knitting for years but my hands don't cooperate as long as I want them too, I've still not moved much beyond scarves!
Love it! I can't believe you only began learning two years ago!
I love it! The color is perfect I love green. I have only made my little baby boy sweaters, but have really wanted to make a sweater for myself soon though I will.
