Christmas Clutter

I am so thankful for everything that we are blessed with. We are surrounded by friends, family, and nice neighbors who drop by during the holiday season with everything from sweet treats to large remote control vehicles.
It is a great and exciting time for all, that is for sure!
Having three kids without a playroom can make it hard to find room for everything.
I am sure I am not the only one that gets really overwhelmed by Christmas clutter.

Each of the kids has their own room. Half of their toys go in their closet, and the other half stay out.
We rotate every month or so.
Sometime in the fall I have the kids go up to their room and fill a large bag full of toys to donate. We have been doing this for a few years now, and it is so nice to have room to put away all of their new things.

We do this for a few reasons:
It gives them a space to play in their room.
I do not like the way my kids act when there is too much stuff around. I think they get overwhelmed and are not sure how to deal with it.

The biggest reason is that I am a very compulsive organizer that enjoys things being in their place. It is really one of my hobbies, to be honest.
Don't think I am above showing off my Tupperware drawer or coat closet if you come over.

Anna's room got some extra love.

We painted it (cottage white by Behr) and moved her furniture around a bit.

What do you do to avoid Christmas clutter?

Your house doesn't look cluttered at all - it looks beautiful as always! I'm so glad you're blogging again! We donate lots and lots of stuff to the salvation army! Happy New Year!

Your house is gorgeous and her room is beautiful. We are having a big clean this week and donating lots of stuff. We have one after Christmas and one after the girls birthdays which are close together.

To avoid clutter I spend 15 minutes a night cleaning up, folding laundry, and putting dishes away. I do love your philosophy on toys out and such...I feel the same way!

Putting the Christmas decorations away always causes me to heave a sigh of relief...I love to get it out but I also love to put it all away!

What a gorgeous bedroom!

Oh my gosh, Christmas clutter stresses me out, too! Getting to it early is such a great idea. I usually get home with my presents, freak out because I have nowhere to put them, then go through a huge purge of the entire condo and make a big donation to a thrift store back home as early in January as possible.

Anna's room looks lovely!

I love both of your kids' rooms. I have a couple of questions about items in your daughters room. I was wondering where you got the princess canopy thing above her bed, and also the white victorian dollhouse. I love that! Anyway, I've been wanting to do one of those gauzy canopy things in my daughters room for a while but didn'tknow where to find one.
Thanks!

Elisabeth
