Dying Over Here
My daughter and I are redecorating her room room and she loves color, so color it is. It was the perfect opportunity for me to try dying some fabric. Something I have been wanting to do for a while now.
I have to tell you, this was one of the most satisfying projects I have ever done. I love instant gratification.
I bought some white denim (the color takes much better to cotton, wool or silk) and dyed the fabric, then made the pillow.
I wanted really intense color, so I ignored the directions on the box and filled a bucket with about six quarts of water and added two packets of dye.
She wanted an ombre effect, so I put about a foot of the fabric in the solution and let it soak for a half hour. After that, I put about another foot in and left it for ten minutes, then another foot and left it for two minutes.
When you do something for one child, there is usually another one that wants something very similar. I used black on the curtains in Jack's room. Now everyone is happy, except for my oldest who wants a cool bike hanging in his room instead.
Yes, let me get right on that.
